One of the best dogs for a family pet.  These dogs are like a ball of energy.  Their tail very rarely stops wagging.  They seem to have a permanent smile on their faces and they are super intelligent. While they absolutely love a walk it is not imperative that you do this every day, as they are very energetic and make their own fun.  You won't hear about one of these dogs savagely mauling a child.  They love to be with people but can entertain themselves if you have to leave them alone during the day.  They are related to the English Toy Spaniel, a breed of dog in England since Tudor times, which are thought to have originated in China or Japan. King Charles 11 of England was very fond of these little dogs and it was then named a King Charles Spaniel.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a different breed -  very similar to the King Charles Spaniel - but slightly larger and weighs  4.5 to 8 kilograms and has a longer muzzle.  The eyes are very important in this breed and they must be very soulful and expressive.  Both breeds are totally delightful as are their owners.
